Technical Information about Our Products
Standard SUN-DORs are of stile and rail types and all
doors are custom manufactured furnished unfitted, unfinished and without
hardware. Doors are available pre-hung in custom wood frames or as
pre-machined only for frames by others.
Raised panel door surfaces are three-dimensional in nature. The term "face",
as used in our catalog, refers to the outermost surface only. Face
dimensions of the various members are measured across the outermost surface.
The sum of these dimensions equals the height or width of the
door.
Unless we are directed otherwise, all non-rated doors will
be manufactured to our standard face dimensions as
follows:
To determine the overall width of door stile or rail,
add face width plus 1/2" for each edge of sticking.
Louver doors are available for interior construction only. Hardwood doors are not warranted for exterior
applications except Genuine Mahogany, African Mahogany, Spanish Cedar and
White Oak. Other hardwood species may be considered upon written exception
from SUN-DOR-CO.
CONSTRUCTION: All SUN-DORs are manufactured of
clear or rustic, kiln dried lumber and assembled with 5/8" hardwood dowels
and exterior type adhesives. All faces are wide belt sanded with cross
sanding marks removed.
1-3/8" and 1-3/4" Western Pine doors may have parts of solid (1 ply) lumber. Members over 6" in width and panels may be edge glued as required. Stiles may be of veneered construction at manufacturer's option. WOOD DOORS: Shall have veneered and laminated construction as follows:
DUTCH DOORS: Doors with wide, straight lock rails are available as dutch doors (two pieces) and are furnished complete with flush beaded astragal and metal weatherstrip. Bottom sections of doors with high lock rails are 39-5/8" high. Bottom sections of doors with low lock rails at 33-7/8" high. Dutch doors with low lock rails will result in hardware being mounted somewhat lower than normal. LOUVER DOORS:Are constructed
with fixed slat type or full thick chevron sight proof louvers in both
ventilating and non-ventilating types. Chevron types have identical face
appearance. Louver doors are available for interior use only and are not
warranted when used in exterior applications.
WOOD FRAMES: Non-rated frames
are manufactured of solid wood and will be shipped disassembled. Curved top
frames will have veneered top members and will be shipped
assembled.
COMBINATION STORM AND SCREEN
DOORS: Many designs are available with an
interchangeable glass or screen insert and you may choose from a variety of wood
species for exterior use.
FIRE RATED
DOORS: Stile and Rail doors are available with 20, 45,
60 and 90 minute ITS – Warnock Hersey International labeling in select standard
designs as well as qualifying special layouts. Doors may be ordered as singles
or pairs with category A Positive Pressure WHI labeling. Our fire rated stile
and rail doors also match many of our non-rated sticking and panel raise
details.
FIRE RATED WOOD
FRAMES: Fire rated frames are available from SUN-DOR-CO
to complement your fire rated doors. Most configurations are available.
WOOD SILLS: Non-rated Solid
Wood Sills are available in White Oak or Genuine Mahogany and may be glued for
width with Type 1 waterproof glue.
STILE TRIMMING:Stiles on
non-rated doors may be trimmed up to 1/2".
PRE-MACHINING: Standard
machining will be provided unless custom pre-machining is specified. All fire rated doors and frames must
be factory machined.
SAFETY GLAZING: There are three factory glazing options:
Safety glass, tempered insulated glass, beveled and grooved meet both ANSI Z-97.1 and Consumer Product Safety Commission (16CFR1201CII) standards for category I or II applications. SPECIALS: Other styles and sizes are available upon special order per customer's layout. Manufacturer reserves the right to make product changes in specifications and construction details. |
